Wildfire Continues to Blaze in Canada
A wildire in British Columbia has already torched 400,000 acres and destroyed 2, 400 structures. The fire has not taken any lives, but at least 80,000 people have been evacuated out of Fort McMurray, where the fire continues to rage. As of Tuesday, the blaze was minimally contained and officials noted that it could take months to fully have the fire under control, although the weather is finally making a turn for the better. Fort McMurray is located near much of the country’s oil reserves, which raises concerns about the fire’s impact on the national economy. Smoke from the fire has traveled as far as Minnesota, Iowa, and some parts of eastern U.S. and Canada.
