President’s Executive Order on Immigration Hits Roadblock

The Supreme Court announced today that it was unable to reach a decision regarding President Obama’s executive order on immigration, which would grant legal status for millions of illegal immigrants in the United States. With the court evenly divided,  the work authorization and benefits programs for these immigrants will not go into effect and the case will return to the lower court. The legal issue at hand is whether or not the president has the authority to issue such an order, or if it is outside the limits of the executive branch.
