Citing letters from his Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General, President Trump sent a formal termination notice to (former) FBI Director James Comey Tuesday afternoon. President Trump’s decision was officially response to the advice from the two department of Justice superiors. The letter from Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein noted Comey’s poor handling of information throughout the investigation of Hillary Clinton, including his releasing of too much information to the media (along with his unnecessary opinions). This letter also cited quotes from various former Attorneys General and Deputy Attorneys General which agreed with this conclusion. Because Comey refused to admit any errors in the way the investigation was handled, both letters urged the President to remove him from the office of FBI Director. See all of the letters here.
