Last week, on May 4th, one U.S. Navy SEAL was killed and two others injured in Somalia. The troops were executing a raid on al-Shabab militants in Barii, about 40 miles outside of Mogadishu. This support mission is reflective of an increasing American presence throughout Africa, and Somalia in particular, as an extension of the continued war on terror.

The deceased Navy SEAL was Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Kyle Milliken. He was 38 years old, hailing from Falmouth, Maine.
