The death toll of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting has reached 58, with injuries affecting over 500 people. Law enforcement still has very little information behind the shooter’s motive. It’s believed that he had over 20 firearms in his hotel room, and was also trying to shoot at his car which contained explosive ammunition, hoping to set off an explosion (but failing to do so). Police do believe he acted alone and acknowledge the retired accountant and high-roller gambler raised no red flags when purchasing any of his firearms or ammunition. Little more than that is known at this time.
Breaking story (posted Monday 10/2):
During Jason Aldean’s performance at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, held across the street from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, a gunman opened fire on the crowd of country concert-goers. Police believe the shooter fired from his 32nd story Mandalay Bay room, firing thousands of rounds into the crowd. The shooter, who has been identified but will not be named here, killed himself just before police entered his hotel room. Very little information is known about the shooter at this time. ISIS has taken credit for the shooting, but officials are wary to believe their claim.
